Unheilig - Goldene Zeiten |
Goldene Zeiten is a 2-CD live album recorded during the Moderne Zeiten tour. Production quality is excellent, rivaling the studio quality of many ba nds, crowd noise is minimal, and der Graf and his live band offer a strong performance. Song introductions are not too long-winded, while remaining friendly and relaxed.
For existing fans, it is worth noting that there are few deviations from the studio versions of the songs, with only minor changes in the live guitar and keyboard parts. The vocals from start to finish are pure, rich and vivid, but again with no substantial changes from the studio versions of the songs.
Live albums are often only of interest to existing fans of a band, but that is certainly not the case here. I would instead say that the selection of songs, combined with the high quality of the performance and the recording makes Goldene Zeiten an ideal starting point for listeners new to Unheilig. Fans will want this album for the bonus tracks, but also for a warm and inviting live performance. New listeners can get a taste of what Unheilig is all about, without wondering if they are missing out on studio quality.
