From the information I have gathered, Eisblut appears to be a side project of the controversial dark metal band Eisregen. I have not heard anything from Eisregen, but after hearing this album I can’t say that I feel the need to. I don’t quite know how to describe the sound of this band, but it seems to differ little from pure noise. When I first listened to the album, I was initially heartened by the second track, Silbersarg, as it was very pleasant and well done, sounding closer to a traditional Neue Deutsche Härte sound, but it was the only redeeming moment on an otherwise unpleasant release. The tracks really have little to differentiate between them, there is no real clarity in the guitar work, and the vocals were practically indistinguishable from the background noise of the music. As previously mentioned, the only exception to this is the track Silbersarg, which incorporates a much clearer guitar, as well as sung vocals. Apparently the band members classify themselves as death metal, and I suppose they could fit into that category, but I would advise fans of death metal to steer clear as well. All around, Schlachtwerk is a harsh, largely unpleasant release, which I never warmed to. I would advise fans of industrial, death, and general metal to avoid this release.
