Megaherz were formed in 1993 by Alexx Wesselsky and four others. From the start, Megaherz were influenced by Megadeth. They knew exactley how they wanted to sound. the phrase "Hard, But With a Heart!" has served the band well from the beginning.
Their demo cd Herzwerk introduced the world to Megaherz. This lead to the next album Wer Bist Du (Who are you) in 1997. When this album was released, only Alexx remained of the original 5 from the Herzwerk cd. Christian (X-ti) and Wenz joined the band and this partnership was to last for a number of years.
Success followed as Megaherz were toured as the supporting band for Subway to Sally through Germany. It was at this time the much mistaken for Rammstein song "Gott Sein" was ecoming increasingly popular in clubs throughout Germany.
So Megaherz went back into the studio to record their next cd "Kopfschuss" (Headshot). Out of this brilliant album came Freiflug which made it to number 7 on the German charts.
By 1999 the band consisted of Alexx, X-tian, Wenz, Frank, and Noel and work began on the next album Himmelfahrt (journey to heaven). This was released in 2000.
Not long after himmelfahrt's release, both Noel and Frank left the band & were replaced by Pohl from Twelve after Elf & drummer, Jürgen for the next cd "Herzwerk II" (heart work).
About 6 months after Herzwerk II was released, Alexx Wesselsky, the last standing member from the original Megaherz, left the band to pursue a new musical direction with former Megaherz member Noel Pix. So now Alexx is in the band Eisbrecher.
Then in June this year it was announced that former Twelve after Elf singer Mathias Elsholz was to be the new lead singer for Megaherz.
The band then released their fifth cd, titled simply "5". Mathias proved a hit with the fans and he seemed to intergrate very well into the band. Finally, the fans had thought a concrete line-up had been established. this was not to be for a few months after the release, Jürgen the drummer had to resign for the band for various reasons and this was a followe a few months later by the new lead singer Mathias. So once again the band is on the hunt for a new singer, but the heart is beating...
Megaherz is:
Mathias - Vocals
X-ti - Guitars
Wenz - Bass
Jürgen - Drums
