I agree that Silber's debut did not match "Zeichen". I don't really think anything can be that good... it's one of my top 3 albums. But honestly I don't really think Silber is intended to compete with Weissglut, either. The way I see it, they are 2 totally different bands. They might have the same members, but they are still two very different bands. Weissglut was very dark, whereas Silber has a lighter feeling but without losing too much heaviness in the music.

For Silber, eliminating the keyboards is not only a way that they are naturally progressing, but also a step to move away from their troubled past with Weissglut. I think the 2 new tracks sound like a nice progression from where they were with the debut, and they will definitely keep the fans they already have. But as F_GX said, it's nothing really groundbreaking. Even so, the music is still great to listen to.

Ofcourse it's great to listen to, i never dared to criticize Silber :twisted:
but the atmosphere and power of Weissglut is not reached again by their debut, but that is what their music lives from.

I don't want music to be necessarily dark, so also with their new concept of "lighter, brighter" music as you said they could be successfull, but
they still need to invent "more reasons to listen to their songs" so to speak.

Do you like "Zeichen" better than "Etwas kommt in deine Welt", Flammenstrahl? In the meantime i got really undecided about that.

However "EkidW" is by far the most emotional album i ever listened to.
Only the "Janus" albums come close, but only because of the good lyrics, Weissglut is a whole emotional concept, so much that it is unique in the history of music.

Both Weissglut albums are incredible, but I like "Zeichen" more. The music is much more powerful and captivating, and Tom's vocals are brilliant. Some songs on EKIDW are slower and a little bit repetitive I think, for example the last 2 songs.

I definately like Zeichen better than Etwas kommt in deine Welt. Etwas kommt in deine Welt, but Zeichen is one of my all-time favourite albums. Maybe not in my top 3, but probably in my top 5 and definately in my top 10.

Yeah, Zeichen is simply a masterpiece. I wouldn't say that EkidW is far behind Zeichen's greatness as well, it's a very good album but in some parts it does gets tedious, unlike Zeichen.

I got to listen to Silber first so I've always carried on with the opinion that Silber was better than Weissglut withouth giving a real chance to Weissglut. But when I did so, Weissglut beated Silber by far...the lyrics & sound and simply all the surrounding atmosphere are just much better in overall. This doesn't means I started disliking Silber but nowadays I do have a different view over them, really different from the one I did have at first. I still like Silber's simpler music very much, but damn... sometimes I wish it was the other way around (Silber turning into Weissglut).

About the new songs...well they're ok at a first listen but I do get the feeling that there's something missing...*keyboards*

That is the big reason why I think I love Zeichen so much... the incredible atmosphere, like a deep dark energy that's created by the keyboards and certain guitar distortions. I have never heard any other band which was able to produce such an effect.
