Just got it today as well

I really like the album, even better than Reise, Reise. The artwork is indeed very nice and the live DVD is quite powerful, yet short.

Can't come up with a favourite song so far, but "Mann Gegen Mann", "Spring" & "Stirb nicht vor mir (Don't Die Before I Do)" stand out the most for me.

Stirb Nicht is a nice song, but the lack of hooks in a lot of the other songs has sort of disappointed me. Still, it's growing on me.

Re: Rosenrot 2005/11/12 02:01
My review:

I recieved my ultra speshul(sic) 10,000000+ Limited edition of the album early this week. It has been in my stereo and computer on overkill since.

It was so soon after the release of RR that I really wasn't excited about the new album and so I don't think I had any expectations.
I'll start by saying the album artwork is possibly my favourite of all time, almost makes it worth importing the digipack before I even listen.
Right:

Benzin: 8/10
I'm not sure about having this song as the opening track after such brilliant openers as Mein Herz Brennt and Reise, Reise, but I am not judging it in this context. Some people don't like it, I for one really like this song, its got all the power and oomph(no pun) that I like. Its a great rocking track with the background bass(?) really helping it along.

Mann Gegen Mann: 7.5/10
I quite like this song after a couple of listens. The guitaring is great and where Till Shouts "Mann Gegen Mann" is pure Rammstein power. It's catchy. Would be wicked live.

Rosenrot: 8/10
It's not really a rocky song but dam it is sung so well, the lyrics fit in extremely well. I find myself singing to this song the most especially the chorus. Could be a bit repetitive at times and I do miss those catchy Rammstein riffs. But the heavy part in the middle is great.

Spring: 7/10
This one came up a little flat, I guess with a name like that I'd expected it to be a little heavier. Chilling choir in the song goes well. For me it kinda goes along the lines of Klavier(which I wasn't much of a fan) Backing instruments sound great and add to the mood well.

Wo Bist Du: 6.5/10
I tried to really get into this one but it doesn't really stand out for me. the guitaring just seems so..well..flat for me. Does seem like it would have come off the Herzeleid/Mutter album but it just seems to lack something.

Stirb nicht vor mir: 7/10
REALLY nothing like Rammstein have ever done. Feels as if Till was appearing on the Texas album. It's nice, i'll give it that, I'll even play it to the folks. Good for when your relaxing, but dam you don't come to Rammstein for that. English lyrics just don't seem right at all.

Zerst?ren 8/10
Good, heavy, Rammstein. Riffs are great, really gets the blood going. Has the Angst I'm after. Does remind me a little of the band Niederschlag. The horn or whatever it is in the background doesnt seem right to me. One of my fav songs off the album.

Hilf mir: 8.5/10
Wow, this really sticks in my head this song. There is a lot of power and it is used well. Set's this little kiwi boy through a range of emotions. very mood song Very catchy guitaring. Theres is still a lot of power in these boys.

Te Quiero Puta: 7/10
I'll give it marks for having th Rammstein catchy riffs of older days. It'll lose some for being in Spanish and overkill with trumpets.

Feuer und Wasser: 6/10
Not a lot to say about this song. The intro is too long, once it gets going it seems to do ok.

Ein Lied: 5/10
That title is misleading.. It's possibly their worst finishing track. After the ripper that was Amour, this is nothing. Its something new for the boys, I guess it depends what mood your in.

Album itself: 7.5/10
There are some powerful songs in the mix. But it mainly seems to be another new approach for Rammstein. It leans a little more towards mainstream. Still has many powerful areas for the fans like me. I would still recommend this album to people. I admit I am a harsh critic and some songs just don't cut it with me. It has some Poweful songs in Zerst?ren, Benzin and Hilf Mir, some new approaches like Stirb nicht vor mir and Te Quiero Puta.

For those of who want to know my tastes, my order of preference of Rammstein albums are:

Herzeleid 8.5/10
Mutter 8.5/10
Reise, Reise 7.5/10
Rosenrot 7.5/10
Sehnsucht 6/10

Also, get the Ltd Edition if you can..it's well worth it. The DVD is brilliant..for the 3 songs it has.

I agree with "Mann Gegen Mann" and "Spring", but honestly I have to say that "Stirb Nicht Vor Mir" is the absolute most horrible, vile, worst sounding Rammstein song I have ever heard. The song itself is just bad, very uneventful, and the female guest singer is simply awful. The English vocals just make it worse. </rant>

As several people have already stated, "Zerstoren" is a pretty cool song too. I'm not much into "Benzin" though. I don't see why it was picked as the first single (or any single for that matter), and the video was pretty lame too.
