Hi all !
I recently realised myself listening to toxsin over and over again,
so i decided to open (or re-open in order to the last toxsin topic being deleted by the forum transfer to the other server) a new thread on toxsin.
Their album really grew a whole lot on me in the last time. Shame on me when i got it i was also a bit dissapointed at first and put it on the shelf quite quickly covered by the opinion that it's nothing too special.
So let's go through the tracklist quickly.
01 Illusion - nice theme about the media controling our minds, nice electronic effects, strong title track
02 Hoffnung - ok, average
03 Gedankenspiel - intersting electronics, good guitar riff
04 ewig - hmm a weak song, cannot keep up with the rest
05 Stadt der Engel - really professional electronics, good lyrics
06 Der Berg - said to be the best song on the cd, but only slightly above average
07 Hoellenqual - nice riff in the beginning, very atmospheric sound
08 probiers nochmal - now that's some really great guitar riff ! sounds a bit like Stahlmania should have sounded
09 Zeit - nothing too special here, some voice SFX
10 mitten ins Herz - i don't like that song, quite boring
11 ich will - very nice love song, great lyrics again, good guitar, bass and keyboard, nice guitar solo part.
i rate Illusion from Toxsin 7 out of 10.
The singers voice is "unusual", but i like it. major strength of the album is it's diversity regarding to it's lyrical themes.
