Einstürzende Neubauten 2003/12/25 23:41
Ok... I am listening to the Kaaja and Valek radioshow on radio goethe (I don't like these yohos... I'm sorry) German people do not only listen to RG, which is just what he said...that German people only listen to Radio Goethe.

Oy, sorry, I digress..

I just heard Pelikanol by Einst?rzende Neubauten.
I have Ende Neu Album... and you know what? I don't get their music. What is it I am missing? Why can't I 'get into' EN? I hear people always ranting about them.

All that squeaking... I am used to some "non-melodic" music; but this stirs no emotion in me whatsoever. icky!

If there is something else of EN which is good, please reccommend it. I've not found much on Ende Neu I've liked. Just puts me to sleep. ...in fact that is the only time I could listen to it, while falling asleep.

they are hard to get into. I used to really dislike them for the longest time. even bought an album to try to change my mind (berlin babylon). didnt work for me. But through time, my mind slowly changed and now I like them very much

Try something from the 'tabula rasa' album (even though ende neu is great :? )

Well, I liked "The Garden" from Ende Neu... I partly thought the story behind that song was a bit interesting. So that's why I like this song a little. Repetitious, but I guess that is EN. lol

I'll try what you suggested. thanks 8)

Pelikanol is a little long. But I liked Silence is Sexy, the rest of that album, especially the 'heavier' tracks (not a particularly heavy album though) especially Was ist die befindiskeitdes Landes (if I had the album next to me, or indeed in this country, I would have spelled that correctly - sorry about that). Halber Mensch is a great song too. Thats the extent of my EN knowledge, anyway.

I didn't find them too hard to 'access', if anyones interested, but thats probably because I'd been listening too, and enjoying, Skinny Puppy, for a couple of years before I bought Silence is Sexy. And Skinny Puppy must be the least accessible band on the planet.

"Silence is Sexy" is a great wee album.

i'll admit i don't particularly "get" this type of music but i like what they're doing merely in terms of making odd music from interesting objects. plus Blixa is very charismatic.
