It does seem worse than it actually is. Once given a chance, this album can grow on you a little. Not sure how to rate it compared to their previous album...

But songs like "Die Leiter", "Lass mich raus" or "Auf Kurs" make you think that this new Oomph! that's been kicking for a few years now maybe isn't that bad at all. They sure are still skilled musicians, they're just not using them in a way that could please the fans of their earlier material. I think that with also more than 20 years of career, you have to cut some slack these guys. There's immense to absorb from the old stuff and also a few highlights from their new era...I think it's natural to be disappointed at how they totally abandoned their "default" sonority completely but it isn't fair to spit on the newest efforts just because it's just something else. I know that personally I did that for a while, others may not confess but feel the same way, I'm pretty sure. One has to look at the bright side of it all, they're still around and kicking...they probably won't release masterpieces like those from their earlier works but they'll still release average albums, with 2 or 3 highlight songs to be appreciated. And for me, that's better than nothing at all - it's not up to me to say a band "quit while you still please my personal taste", their creative freedom should be something to be respected, may we like it or not.
